Other classroom users hear noise when I talk.
The problem is probably with your microphone. Try these steps to eliminate the echoes or noise:
* If your headset uses batteries, make sure they aren’t dead.
* Adjust the microphone volume settings or
Increase silance setting.
* If your web cam or computer has a built-in microphone, try using that microphone instead of your headset’s microphone.
* Update the sound drivers on your computer. On Windows PCs, the automatic Windows Update service does not always find the most recent drivers; you may need to search for drivers yourself.
* Replace your microphone or headset. A noise-canceling headset (a headset with a built-in noise-canceling microphone) usually gives the best sound quality.
I hear echoes or clicking sounds when someone else in the classroom talks.

I can't hear anything in the classroom.
* Try these simple steps first:
- First check your headset. If the headset has a volume control, check that it is turned up.
- Check that the headset is plugged in to your computer properly.
- If your headset uses batteries, make sure they aren't dead.
- Check your sound isn't turned off in the sound controller of your computer. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel > Audio Devices > Volume Control. Make sure tthe mute box is not checked.
- Log out of the classroom, and log in again. This usually solves most problems with the sound.
- Make sure your headset is plugged in correctly. One cord from the headset should be plugged into your computer's microphone jack; the other cord should be plugged into the headphones jack.
- Make sure your computer's volume is not muted and turned up sufficiently.
- Open your Volume control panel, and check the Master Volume and Wave sections. Make sure the "Mute" or "Mute all" checkbox is not checked. (It's OK for the microphone to be muted--a muted microphone means you won't hear your own voice in your headset.)
- Make sure the volume in the classroom is turned up. (you'll find all controlls if you roll your mouse over the tab at the botom right of the video frame)
- Try exiting the classroom software (click Logout in the upper right corner of the window), and then re-enter the classroom.

What is a firewall?
A firewall is a software or hardware layer that creates a protective barrier between your computer and potentially damaging content on the Internet. The firewall helps to guard your computer against malicious users, and also against malicious software such as computer viruses and worms. Many firewalls block all software downloads unrecognized to the firewall.
Some firewalls ask you for permission before blocking a page, but others block everything without asking. These more strict firewalls may cause problems when connecting to the classroom, so in some cases you may need to turn off the firewall during your class.
Our classrooms work very well with Windows Firewall, Windows XP and Vista.
